Dissolvable Agent Setup

The Dissolvable Agent (Agent) is installed on Windows devices to collect host data in order to perform certain vulnerability and compliance scans. During the scan process the Agent is installed as needed. Once the scan is complete, the Agent will remove itself completely.

Information collected by the Agent is securely transmitted to the scanner using a cryptographically secure protocol. The information is encrypted and integrity-protected and is not stored on the scanner except in memory while the information is processed. The information is discarded securely as soon as it is no longer needed. See About the Dissolvable Agent for more information.

Agent installation is required for these capabilities:

      Password Auditing (compliance scans)

Windows Share Enumeration (vulnerability and compliance scans)

Detailed Security Auditing for Windows Vista, 7 and 2008 (compliance scans)

Review Agent Installation Status

A message appears to indicate whether the Agent has been accepted or declined, and the most recent user action taken. See Agent Installation Status for more information.

Accept or Decline the Agent (Manager Only)

Depending on the Agent installation status, one of the following options appears:

Accept. Click to accept the Agent for the subscription. Once accepted, the Agent will be used by the scanning engine to gather host data in order to perform certain vulnerability and compliance scans.

Decline. Click to decline the Agent (previously accepted). Once declined, the Agent will not be used by the scanning engine to gather host data.
