Each time a report is generated, a report template is used which defines the report source, report timeframe, filters, and display options. The service provides several pre-defined templates for all report types. Users can also create custom report templates.
Manage report templates from the report templates list. For subscriptions with Report Share enabled, you access the report templates list by selecting Report Templates under Tools. For subscriptions without Report Share enabled, you access the report templates list by selecting Report from the left menu.
Several scan report templates are provided by the service for your convenience. See Templates Provided by the Service. The Library provides a variety of scan report templates that you can import to your account. The report templates in the Library are designed to address many of your vulnerability reporting requirements. See About the Library.
Custom report templates may be created by users. These template types are available: scan, patch, policy, map and consultant (consultant type is available for Consultant subscriptions), In report templates, you specify how much information to include and how that information should appear. You can filter reports by specific hosts/asset groups, severity levels, vulnerability categories, and other criteria. Use the "Test" feature in scan and map templates to preview the report output and fine-tune the report parameters before using the template to generate reports.
When the compliance module is enabled for the subscription and you have compliance management privileges, then you can create policy report templates. Policy report templates specify how much information to include in the compliance policy report and how that information should appear. A policy report template is not provided by the service. At least one policy report template must be created in the subscription before users can generate policy reports.
In subscriptions with multiple users, Managers and Unit Managers can create global report templates for use by their users. This allows users with management responsibility to establish a base-line standard for reports.
Global report templates created by Managers are made available to all users in the subscription. Global report templates created by Unit Managers are made available to all users in their business unit. All users have permission to save personal copies of global report templates published by their Managers in order to use them as the basis for new report templates.
