When you first create a compliance policy, you're prompted to select one or more technologies for the policy. Technologies include operating systems (i.e. Windows 2003) and applications (i.e. Oracle 9i). Your selection makes up the global technologies list for the policy. The global technologies list determines which controls are available for adding to the policy. Only controls that apply to the global technologies can be added to the compliance policy.
You can add technologies to the compliance policy in order to make more controls available and you can globally remove technologies from the policy. To do so, click the Set Technologies button on the top menu bar. When you add a new technology, controls that are relevant to the new technology become available. When you globally remove a technology, then that technology is removed from all controls in the policy.
Click Technology from within a control to add more technologies to the control. A list of additional technologies applicable to the control appears so that you may choose the technology you want to add. If only one additional technology is available for the control, then it is added automatically.
Click Technology to remove a particular technology from the control.
